Mike Barnett - Field Service Technician

Mike Barnett joins the organization as a Field Service Technician for the Industrial Products Group . Mike will be responsible for commissioning, calibrating, troubleshooting and repairing a variety of flow meters, pressure transmitters, level transmitters, temperature transmitters, chart recorders, controllers and valves to our meet customer’s requirements. Living in Parrottsville, TN Mike will primarily cover the northeast Tennessee area .

With 15+ years of experience, his background is perfectly suited for this role. Having held positions as Electrical Instrumentation/Electrical Specialist with SI Group (3 years), Sonoco Paper Mill (10 years) both in Newport, TN, he was responsible for the installation and calibration of flow meters, pressure transmitters, level transmitters and control valves as well as troubleshooting and repair of electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics, steam and controls. Other experience includes Automation Specialist with Dentsply Tulsa Dental (4 years) in Johnson City, TN.

Beyonce Mejia - Mares – Front Desk Receptionist

Beyonce Mejia - Mares recently came on board as the Front Desk Receptionist . She is the smiling face of Carotek when visitors arrive and assists the administrative and accounting areas.

Beyonce is originally from Philadelphia, PA. She moved to Indian Trail in 2013. Beyonce attended an early college program through South Piedmont Community College. She earned her Associate Degree in Arts from SPCC . She then attended Wingate University where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, with a minor in Psychology.

Curtis Rucker – Inside Sales Valves

Curtis Rucker started in April as an Inside Sales Representative in the Valves Division. Curtis is responsible for providing outstanding service to our customers and support to the outside sales staff.

Curtis grew up all over the world, spending five years in Japan from the ages of 8 - 13 years old. Curtis most recently worked for five years at Alliance Fleet in Mooresville. There he wore many hats, including sales, management, and performing installations on the customization packages of vehicles. Prior to that he worked as a Tumbling Director for Cheer extreme, a gymnastic coach, assistant teacher for physically disabled students, and other positions in customer service. Curtis is engaged to be married to Lauren on November 22 nd , 2024.

Melissa Gericke – Administrative Assistant

Melissa Gericke recently came on board as Administrative Assistant in the Integration Group . Carotek Q2 new employees.docx Melissa is originally from Baltimore, Maryland. She comes from a large family, having eight siblings! ! She has her Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration, with a Minor in Marketing from York College in Pennsylvania . After graduation Melissa worked in Baltimore in Administrative Assistant, Marketing, and Accounting roles. She then relocated to Atlanta where she worked as a Corporate Account Representative for Pallet Central Enterprises and at Kennesaw State University as the Office Manager in the English Department.

John Van Fossen - Pipefitter

John Van Fossen recently came on board as a Pipefitter. John will be responsible for planning, lay - out and assembling all types of piping systems, supports and related equipment, in accordance with industry specifications.

John is originally from Northeastern Pennsylvania. At Ferris State University in Michigan, John earned an associates in Applied Science Degree in Welding Technology.

Dan Herron – Business Development

Dan Herron recently started in the Business Development Center as an Account Manager in Training.

Dan grew up in Greer, SC, then attended Louisiana State University (LSU) earning a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Agricultural Business. He chose LSU because of the beautiful campus, an academic scholarship, and it just “felt right”.

James Sprengeler – Pump Repair Technician

James Sprengeler recently came on board as a Pump Repair Technician . James w ill be responsible for disassembly, inspection, and repair of all makes and models of centrifugal pumps, positive displacement pumps, positive displacement blowers, vacuum pumps, and a variety of other pumping equipment.

James is originally from Maple Plain, Minnesota. He graduated from Hennepin Technical College with a degree in Fluid Power. While in college he worked as a machine operator and hydraulic technician for Northern Lights Laser and JEM Technical, both in Minnesota. After graduation he began working for SunSource as a Hydraulic Technician. Wanting to move south, Carotek was the perfect fit for James.

Sloan Hatter - CRM Intern

Sloan recently started a summer internship with us in which she will be working on a special project involving our new Customer Resource Management system. Sloan recently completed her Sophomore year at Florida Institute of Technology.

She chose to attend school at Florida Institute of Technology because of their specialization in STEM programs, including the one she studies, Computer Science. Also, the location is near the space coast which could provide future opportunities career wise for her. Her goal one day is to work for one of the “big three” Northrup Grumann, Lockheed, or L3 Harris.

Ralph Durante - Shipping & Receiving

Ralph recently came on board as a Shipping and Receiving Associate. Ralph will be responsible for verifying the accuracy of incoming shipments and orders; identifying packing list, bills of lading, invoices, preparing items for shipment and maintaining orders.

From 2010-22 Ralph worked as a shipping clerk and material handler at Carotek. After testing the waters outside of Carotek, working in Shipping and Receiving at a large box store, Ralph made the decision to return to Carotek. Ralph has served our great country enlisting in the Army at 18 years old. He spent 3.5 years as an Artillery Surveyor. The skills he learned in the service allowed him to work over 15 years in the surveying field with a few different companies. He also worked for three years as a Mecklenburg Country Sheriff.

Daniel Herrera - Control Panel Technician

Daniel recently started at Carotek as a Control Panel Technician. Daniel is responsible for assembling electrical control panels for industrial equipment. As well as fabricating controls according to specifications, including layout and physical mounting of components to the back panel and wiring of all components.

Daniel has a wealth of experience in the NAVY. At age 20 Daniel joined and was stationed in Norfolk, VA. He was an Aviation Electrician in the NAVY responsible for all the electronics on the flight deck, and giving the go ahead for all departing and landing aircraft. He did one deployment to the Mid-East but it was during COVID therefore was not allowed to leave the boat for 8 months. After the NAVY he did electrical contract mechanic/technician work in the Norfolk area before moving to Charlotte in April.
